InterClassics Maastricht

From 11 to 14 January 2018 celebrates InterClassics Maastricht, the old-timer exhibition, which has since grown to become one of the most prominent old-timer exhibitions in Europe, its 25th birthday. This anniversary will be dominated by the highlights of the past 25 year. Based on the 18 themes that have been conducted over the years, a unique collection of 18 masterpieces will be presented.

The Jaguar D-Type (1956) 'XKD 606 the 1957 Le Mans winner' is one of those collectables. Furthermore, the 5 Aston Martin DB1964 will be visible to the public. It is the original DB5 that secret agent James Bond in the movie 'Goldfinger' is handed over to carry out his mission by Engineer 'Q'. A third masterpiece is the original Porsche 550 Spyder 1500 RS, from the State of Art Classic Porsche Collection. It is a copy with a very rich racing history.

Jaguar D-Type (1956) 'XKD 606 the 1957 Le Mans Winner'

The XKD 606 completes the hat trick for Jaguar in 1957 with three consecutive Le Mans wins. The car has driven a record distance of 4.397 km with an average speed of 183 km / h, a record that sustains 4 year. After 'Le Mans' the discarded D-Type ended up in club racer circles. Eventually the car was split into two parts after a crash. The sections consisted of the body with rear suspension on the one hand and the subframe with engine on the other. Both components were completed with replica parts. This actually creates two 'original' cars.

Restoration at the expense of Louwman

The Louwman Museum in The Hague eventually acquired both cars and after a long-term restoration that was carried out with a great sense of history, the original components were brought back together. The car is now back in the state in which it was so successful in 1957. This car has been made available by the Louwman Museum.

Aston Martin DB5 'James Bond' (1964) (Cars on Film 2007 theme)

They are forever connected: James Bond, Sean Connery, Aston Martin. The DB5 shown in Maastricht is the original that secret agent James Bond is given by engineer 'Q' in the film 'Goldfinger' for the execution of his mission. The Aston Martin contains various technical gadgets. It has two Browning machine guns behind the front direction indicators. Two hydraulically extendable bumpers are also mounted. Also not to be missed is the rotating number plate with English, Swiss and French license plates. The extendable blades in the rear wheel hub are also a sign of originality. All modifications to this DB5, one of the four specimens with full equipment (three of which still exist), have been made at the Aston Martin plant. The scene in which James Bond receives the car is recorded in a corner of the factory. This car has also been made available by the Louwman Museum and is at the InterClassics Maastricht.

Porsche 550 Spyder (1955)

Also present at the InterClassics Maastricht: the exclusive and original Porsche 550 Spyder 1500 RS from the State of Art Classic Porsche Collection. He is blessed with a very rich racing history. This Porsche has participated in the Mille Miglia in 1957, the GP Spa Francorchamps in 1957 and in the Holland Hillclimb in 1959.
