Twenty years after the 911 of the Porsche 993 generation went out of production, Porsche Classic has built a completely new air-cooled 911 Turbo. It is finished in Golden Yellow Metallic body color, stands on black alloy wheels with Golden Yellow accents and has a black interior with Golden Yellow design details.


The 450 pk strong 911 Turbo is equipped with the characteristic air inlets on the flanks. And these were standard on the Porsche 993 Turbo S, The new classic sports car - which can only be used on a circuit - makes its debut on 27 September during the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca in the United States. He will then be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on 27 October in the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta. The proceeds go to the Ferry Porsche Foundation. It was set up in honor of the seventy-year anniversary of Porsche and deals with education for disadvantaged young people.

Innovation and tradition

Project Gold is the spectacular contribution of Porsche Classic to the celebration of '70 years of Porsche sports cars'. The upcoming launch of the Taycan - the very first all-electric sports car from Porsche - inspired the experts of Porsche Classics. They came up with the idea to build a completely new car based on a Porsche 993 bodywork. For this mix of innovation and tradition, they could draw on more than 6.500 original Porsche 993 parts that Porsche Classic still has available.

Bi-Turbo six-cylinder boxer engine

The construction of the Porsche 993 (911 Turbo) took about a year and a half. First his body was protected and painted against corrosion in the same way as modern Porsches. The Porsche Classic specialists then went over the assembly. At the back of the 911 Turbo is a completely new, air-cooled 3,6-liter bi-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine with 450 hp. The power source is linked to a manual gearbox and four-wheel drive, elements that also come from the Porsche Classic parts range. The chassis number follows that of the last Porsche 993 Turbo that rolled off the production line in 1998. For the color scheme of the exterior and interior, Porsche Classic sought collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. That is the department that was responsible for the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, of which only 500 units were built.

First 911 with aluminum chassis

The Porsche 993 has become a sought after collector's item. It was the first 911 with an aluminum chassis and a bi-turbo engine for the 911 Turbo variant. It was also the last 911 with an air-cooled boxer engine. The nose of the Porsche 993 is lower than that of earlier 911 models thanks to the transition from round to more elliptical headlights. The aluminum wheels with hollow spokes were innovative about the four-wheel drive 911 Turbo. In total, only 345 copies of this 911 Turbo S have been produced.
